The L.A. Times reported that the Covered California marketplace has been “swamped,” fielding as many as 17,000 calls in a single hour one day last week.
U-T San Diego also reports on the challenges consumers have been facing in getting through to Covered CA for assistance.
The good news? Online applications are progressing — we have had a number of clients successfully complete applications online, confirm eligibility, and select their plans. Several have already received their new invoice from the insurance company for their new January 2014 plan. And we have received several reports from clients who have patiently waited to get through to the Covered CA call center — and found the staff at Covered CA to be extremely helpful to complete their application.
Covered CA has opened a new call center to help handle what we expect to be constant demand between now and December 23 — the final deadline to submit an application for a January 1 effective date. The call center number is 800-300-1506.
We recommend that clients not wait until 12/23 to enroll. Please consider completing your application and choosing a plan as soon as possible. If you have yet to set up an account, or to assign Allpointe as your licensed, Covered CA agent, please follow these instructions.
